At Kate Sheppard Midwifery we offer a partnership between you and your midwife; taking you from early pregnancy to birth and through your post-natal period. You can be confident knowing that your midwife will include you and your partner in all discussions concerning your care and that your opinions will be listened to and respected.
If you already have a midwife in mind, great! If you’re not sure yet, feel free to Get in Touch and tell us a little about yourself, and we’ll match you with a midwife who fits perfectly with you and your needs.
After gaining a Bachelor of Health Science (Midwifery) in 2006 I began working as an independent midwife. I love being in partnership with women and their families during pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. I provide informed choice and consent which enables women to be responsible and in control of their childbirth experience. I enjoy working with Louise Lilley and together we provide continuity of care as Lead Maternity Carers.
I am married with two beautiful daughters and thanks to my very supportive husband I am able to live my dream of being a midwife. In my spare time I enjoy boating, watching movies, reading, relaxing with family and friends and having fun with our recent addition to the family, Casper, a Bichon Frise.
I have always enjoyed working with women and their families. As my children are independent adults with children of their own, I am able to commit to the lifestyle that independent midwifery requires. Over the last ten years I have supported many women and their families through their journey into parenthood.
I am happy to provide full independent midwifery care, or to share care with a specialist obstetrician. Ensuring you are fuly informed at all times and supporting you in your personal choices, while making sure both mother and baby are healthy and safe is my absolute priority.
My bachelor of Health Science (Midwifery) degree allows me to work in a role I love, giving me fulfilment and allowing me to make lifelong friendships.
Family is very important to me and I like to spend my spare time with my children and grandchildren.
I am a 52-year-old mother of five and grandmother to seven beautiful children. It was the birth of my first two grandchildren that made me pursue a midwifery career. I studied at AUT in Auckland and hold a BHSC in midwifery.
I worked at North Shore Hospital for two years before becoming an independent midwife. My aim is to facilitate women to have the birth experience they desire within the realms of safety. I love my work and feel privileged to be a part of this life-changing event.
The continuity of care is always my passion as an LMC midwife, as it allows me to spend enough time with women and their families so that women will be empowered to make their decisions regarding the care they wish.
I provide continuity of midwifery care throughout your pregnancy, the birth of your baby and the postnatal period up to 4-6 weeks. I do deliveries at North Shore Hospital. I’m also a childbirth educator at Birthcare Parnell and teach mandarin antenatal classes.
I work with my like-minded midwifery partner Aili Hua, who I ensure my clients meet during the antenatal period in the event that I’m unavailable.
I hold my antenatal clinic every Tuesday.
My partner Robbie and I have four children aged 11 to 17 years.
The care of an independent midwife for the birth of my second child sparked my passion to pursue a career in midwifery, and a belief in the continuity of care and partnership relationship that is obtained through independent practice.
I work closely with my midwifery partner to provide 24/7 midwifery care for the antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal period up to 6 weeks. I support birthing from North Shore Hospital.
In my spare time I love being with my family, gardening, puzzles, boating and fishing.
I am lucky enough to be the mother of two wonderful sons who are young adults now. It has been an amazing journey negotiating the different stages of their lives.
I have worked as an independent midwife on the North Shore of Auckland since 2000 as part of the Kate Sheppard Midwifery group. I have enjoyed being part of a supportive group of midwives and obstetricians.
I trained in South Africa, first as a nurse and then as a midwife, qualifying in 1984. I have subsequently done a degree in health service management, occupational health and community health. I immigrated to New Zealand in 1998. I first worked at North Shore Hospital as a midwife then a midwife consultant, leaving to become a founding member of Kate Sheppard Midwifery.
Midwifery was always my passion since my first day in delivery suite. The miracle of new life has never ceased to amaze me and I feel incredibly privileged to be part of this very special time in the lives of so many amazing women and their families. I believe that each woman is an individual with unique needs. I enjoy the continuity of care that independent midwifery allows me to practise.
Hi, I’m Lizzie. I am a registered midwife with a BHSc (Midwifery) qualification. I love being able to support women and their families during pregnancy, birth and in the beginning weeks of parenthood.
I am married to Jeff, and we have 2 children, Lilly and Riley. I discovered my love for midwifery after the birth of my daughter in 2007. Previously, I was a Beauty Therapist and decided to change my career and follow my passion.
I strive to provide up to date evidence-based information with individualised, thorough care and I approach each pregnancy without bias. I am there to support you in whichever way is best for both you and your baby. I am supportive of woman’s choice and I am committed to providing a positive birth experience.
I am happy to provide care to low risk women who wish to birth in water and I also have a passion to support women wanting a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC).
As an option for your pregnancy care, I will happily provide shared care with one of our private obstetrician from the Beginning’s Birthing team.
I conduct my clinics on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the rooms in Albany.
Being pregnant and giving birth are life-changing events and I look forward to having the privilege of being a part of your unique journey.
I am a mother of two beautiful children Emma and Max, and it was having them that helped me realise my passion for midwifery.
I trained at AUT and went on to work as a core midwife at North Shore Hospital before going out independent and joining Kate Sheppard.
My midwifery philosophy is that birth is a natural event and I believe in helping families to have an enriching experience as possible in this amazing time in their lives. I advocate and support all women in whatever experience they are looking for within the midwifery scope of practice. I am excited about the postnatal period and supporting families in their transition to parenthood.
